Introduction Hosted by Cycling UK from 8th June to 14th June 2026, Bike Week is the UK’s largest annual celebration of cycling, promoting the ways that cycling can make life better for individuals and communities across the country. Bike Week highlights the everyday nature of cycling, whether it’s cycling for your commute, leisure, fitness, or short local journeys in your community. Participating in Bike Week 2026 is a great way to get involved in community rides, cycling challenges, family-friendly activities, workplace initiatives, and local events across the UK. Here’s what to expect and how to get involved! What is Bike Week 2026? Cycling UK (known back in 1923 as the Cyclists’ Touring Club) has run Bike Week for more than 100 years, and it’s the biggest celebration of its kind in the UK. The first ever National Bicycle Week was celebrated in London’s Hyde Park, kicked off by an exciting (and massive) 888-mile relay ride and ending with Cyclists’ Touring Club representatives cycling to Buckingham Palace to give birthday greetings to King George V. Since then, Bike Week has shifted focus from recreational cycling alone to emphasising cycling as a means to improve health, the environment, communities, and transport infrastructure through the everyday enjoyment of cycling. Why Bike Week 2026 matters Bike Week has always been about celebrating cycling in a way that works for you, whether it’s a simple, spontaneous cycling trip or replacing your daily commute with an e-bike ride instead. It’s designed to make cycling more accessible, social, and, most importantly, enjoyable! That can look like: ● Helping people gain confidence over time on a bike ● Providing opportunities to learn more about bikes from a practical standpoint, including bike maintenance, route planning, safe riding, and possible risks● Bringing together friends, families, colleagues, schools, and local communities● Supporting Cycling UK’s wider vision of getting more people riding more often In short, Bike Week is about making cycling fit into your life, no matter your confidence, experience, age, or location! Easy ways to join in Bike Week 2026 So, how can you get involved in Bike Week 2026? We’d recommend using Cycling UK’s event finder tool to see what’s on in your area for local, community-led events. For ongoing cycling community support beyond Bike Week 2026, following local cycling clubs and community groups on social media is a great place to start. Additionally, the Big Bike Revival is an event run by Cycling UK and delivered by local organisations, providing free, friendly sessions to help adults start or return to cycling and build their confidence. Don’t forget to keep an eye on local council websites and community noticeboards, and ask friends and family who already cycle to join in the fun! Experience the joy of cycling this Bike Week Whether you’re a beginner, returning to cycling, or an avid cyclist already, Bike Week 2026 is all about celebrating cycling in a way that works for you. Cycling can be your ticket to freedom and convenience, and it’s all in your hands to decide how to spend that time. Whether it’s a Bike Week Brunch, swapping a car journey for a bike ride, or a local community-led event to bring cyclists together, we hope you celebrate Bike Week 2026 in style and with confidence. Happy Bike Week from team TENWAYS!
